Motubu Choki Sensei was one of the Sensei's Nagamine Hanshi studied under. His traditional training and preservation of Okinawan Karate greatly influenced Nagamine Hanshi.

This animated .gif was created utilizing photos from Japanese and Okinawan publications of Motubu Sensei performing Naihanchi Shodan in different locations. Because of this the background changes as the kata is being performed.

The kata, as performed by Motubu Sensei, allows us to see how the traditional kata was preserved, in it's original Okinawan form, by Nagamine Hanshi as he developed the Shorin-Ryu, Matsubayashi-Ryu style. Most martial arts scholars now accept that the kata itself was a version of the Chinese form Naifunchin.
